1. Do most of you have this a primary car?
a: Yes, including multi cross country trips, winters, commutes (even in New York), family hauling, etc.

2. Have you jumped from a pretty advanced car to E12 and regretted it?
a: Driving new cars at the Ultimate Drive for the Cure (BMW supports the Susan Komen breast cancer institute) makes me appreciate the old cars. Some of the new cars are smarter than me.

3. Snow tires? Which would you recommend?
a: Both Blizzaks (Bridgestone) and Alpins (Michelin) are highly recommended.

4. Shop manual? I have had many old cars but this is first BMW. I never really liked Haynes, any rcommendations?
a: Haynes is the only one I've found that just covers e12 cars. Chilton's covers multi models. Occasionally you see factory manual advertised, like on e-bay.
