The cable broke right at the handle by the kick panel. I'm still able to grip the cable with vise grips to open the hood. I adjusted the mechanism once I opened the hood and put it at the top of its travel in the slide behind the headlight. It is still really hard to open (which is why the cable broke). Is the next thing to check, the mechanism itself? The spring looks old and rusty. I guess that could be the part that is really binding up.
Any suggestions for replacing the cable? It'll probably be a real pain in the ass I bet.
