I already told Peter and Karl what happened over e-mail, but I guess I can let everyone in on my embarrasing expieriance. Actually I'll just post what I wrote in my e-mail:
Karl wrote me asking why I didn't attend fall fest, stating the only acceptable
excuse was a keg in the trunk limiting the space for my luggage. And I wholly
agree, but instead something else happened. I really wanted to be there, so
here is my account of the trip that went for naught. This was what I wrote
Karl:
My excuse isn't as good as a kegger, although we did have beverages in the trunk
(which made the latter not completely a wash)! My friends showed up friday, and
off we went at 8:30 PM heading for Virginia Beach. Plan was to be there by 9am.
Everyone was in good spirits, we brought a camcorder to tape the event and
things where looking good. We took I-65 south and headed for Louisville, we
then continued on I-64 which was to take us to our destination, after passing
Frankfort I decided to let my friend Chris drive, because he loves stick, and to
tank up. We stopped at the gas station at an exit I no longer recall and filled
'er up. Chris entered the drivers seat and began turning the key, engine
turned, but the car wouldn't start. I told him he was an amateur and got in my
drivers seat and proceeded to start the engine and got the same results, after
half an hour of constant turning, the battery went dead. We convinced a chap in
an Oldsmobile to give us a jump, and he waited patiently for 5, 10 15, 20
minutes, until we noticed that the jumper cables where melting. I kid you not.
We pushed the bimmer to a parking spot and walked to a convieniently located
motel 6 where we unloaded our beverages and contemplated spending all of
Saturday in a dirtball truck stop. In the morning I called my Allstate towing
service (which is real good, because I've already used it twice this year
before). We towed it to a Firestone, where a mechanic enetered the car and...
started it. It just started, no problem. He said I should replace my fuel
filter, and I said "yeah, guess so." There my story ends. We spent Saturday
night in Louisville wondering why we weren't on the beach, and why we weren't at
hilltop Brewery. But my school loan check arrived today, and I plan to make
sure my untrusty 528i makes it the next time a Fest is planned, which I hope is
soon.
I read some of the accounts and I can only say "wish I was there, should've been
there"

: Glad to see you are still alive, I guess you couldn't make it to the fest after all. I can understand that, it would have been a huge drive from where you were coming from.
: See ya. Sorry, don't ahve any issues of Bimmer magazine.
: : Has anyone ever seen Bimmer magazine? It's a new one, and I got a copy in Chicago in July. The good thing about it is it had a LOT of used BMW parts dealers in the back with numbers etc. I lost the magazine, I need new fenders, and one of the advertisers I called was selling them for $65 plus shipping, cheapest I'd heard of. Anybody have the magazine, or know of a parts dealer with prices such as those? (or know if the magazine is on the net?)
