Only thing I can think of is the drip. Mine leaked pretty badly. If you can't control it it could ruin the valance, discolor the carpet, rust the floorboards. You already know the possible results of low coolant level. I say the downside isn't good.
BTW I don't remember if I ever mentioned how mine came to leak. After the 3.5 swap was running about 3 months I added Water Wetter to the coolant mix. This is a product that improves cooling efficiency. Immediately after adding it the heater control valve began to leak. After replacing the valve I added Water Wetter again but it's hard to tell if it makes a difference. Sure made it leak though.
