Almost certainly a short in the plus diode in the new alternator. It's probably back-feeding battery voltage through alt, lamp and start run buss (ACC).
Make sure blue wire is plugged into correct tab (61) and measure for battery voltage on tab where blue wire plugs in. Remove wire and see if tab will light test light (gnd other lead of light)
If so bad alt.
