Mr. Futzy's tips: Toilet bowl cleaner (Sno Bowl ?) dabbed on those rust spots will clean them back to smooth black steel, and fine steel wool will make the spots invisible. Light coat of clear or a dab of WD-40 and they'll look new.
Careful just dumping things in a pan though, the cleaner is a very mild acid and can dull some of metal finishes.
