I've looked at this site before and simply can't believe the M30 engine only weighs 315 lbs..... that's 60 lbs heavier than a 2.5 l M20! A 2002 engine is only 180 lbs? ---I don't think so. Otherwise I could pick it up by myself.....

This must be a bare engine with nothing on it (like even a starter, cooling fan or water pump!). Add the clutch/flywheel and tranny too...... so total installed weight of a M30 with everything ready to go must be closer to 500-550 lbs...

My 68' MGC engine (which is a 3.0 liter 6) weighs almost 600 lbs without a tranny......... add the clutch/flywheel and tranny it's actually closer to 780 lbs! The 2.7 liter 4 cylinder engine in my 100-4 Healey tips the scale at around 700 lbs too.....Granted those are solid cast iron engines but exchanging the cast iron for an alloy head will only remove 60 lbs.

Guess I'll have to head down to the scales with a comlete unit ready to bolt in to see how much it really is.....

Frank
