I've heard they are not good with older engines.
I suggest WR9DS (silver) for 2.8L and WR9LS (silver also) for 3.5L engines either with solid state igntions. Pricey but good for 50K miles. There's an NGK plug that works ok as well.
For point type ignitions like 530i, W(R)9DC Bosch or the NGK equal will work fine.
