In the last few months I have aquired an '80-'81 528i.
Not really sure which it is to be honest. I bought it on a bill of sale.
It wasn't running when I bought it. I put a new distrib. and all the internal parts that it needed.
The car will start, but only if I spray starting fluid into the fuel injection housing. I then took the main fuel line off to see if the fuel pump was working. After squirting fuel across the driveway, I was sure the electric fuel pump was indeed working. I was wondering if the timing may be the problem? Or where should I begin? I have tinkered around with numerous american cars, but this german car is beating me. If I don't figure out something soon. I'm thinking about selling it.

is #1 cylnder in the front at the fan or at the rear at the firewall?
