Yeah one time when "They all do that" is really true. Usually the plastic gear splits (so far not available as a part) but I've seen pressed on metal gear slip also.
Bottom line, shop speedo rebuild places for decent price and have it rebuilt.
I hacked a gear fix, but it's pretty dicey.

BTW does anyone know if they replace faded odometer digits when they do that?
: My '76 530i's odometer does not work but the speedometer works just fine. Does anyone know if there is anyway that this is possible? I mean if the speedometer works doesn't it make sense that odometer should also work? If anyone out there can help me I would be most appreciative. Thanks.
