I have never quite tried to find my 78 530ia's top speed, I do know in a pissing contest with a camaro on a straight interstate (which shal remain nameless.) I rember finding the redline and that according to the speedo was about 120 -/+ 4 or 5 miles per. I would not be surprised if the ZF3hp22 was at the top end on revs. The old engine was twisting a bit tight. By the way the camaro was more than surprised, he wanted to know what size V8 I had. LOL
: Just out of curiousity,what is the top speed for my 1975 530i w/BW65 auto and a 3.64 ratio rear suppose to be at?I know when Road & Track tested a standard 4spd. w/3.45 ratio rear,they got 124mph out of the thing!Both tranny's have the same 1:1 top gear.I can only get approx.108mph on a cold day with the car in best tune.Does the auto suck that much power,because the difference in rear end ratios is not THAT significant!Plus the fact I guess that the auto is a little heavier.Anybody have any input on this?
