I couldn't figure out what the heck would have happened to one of the lenses of parts car #1. If you've noticed on my For Sale posts, I've only listed the driver's side available, CAUSE the other one is melted on the inside part of the lense. Not enough to have made a hole but nobody is gonna like it.
SO, don't ruin your lenses, get the correct wattage.

: Hi,
: I have had problems with those 50W halogen backups, on two different cars the bulbs got so hot after prolonged useage that they cause the lens to melt. Granted your results may vary but I would also be concerned with the wattage and the amperage they draw. The wiring was not intended to hold that type of load. With the advent of modern driving lights and the low profile sleak design you may find some that you could integrate into the back up lighting system. A couple of small low profile lights operated via a relay that activates from the current to light the stock back up lights would be very nice mounted under the bumper.

: I have thought about this much since my car has very dark tinted windows.
