: Hello there folks. I've got a problem with my car fading to the right whenever I brake hard. I've had the car aligned and they fixed the camber. The alignment shop said that the center tie rod was bad so I just had it replaced today by my mechanic. When this first started I thought it might be the brakes, but testing proved otherwise. Now, my mechanic said that the right idle arm was bad so I'm gonna replace them too. Any idea to what might be going on would be very helpful.
Ben,
I'm a poor sucker who has nothing to do but read the messages on the bullenting board. I'm also the stupid guy who ask dumb questions and stick his nose now and then, HOWEVER, that has help me learn some stuff and make me feel I belong (Yeah right!).
Anyhow, after this protocolary introduction (as usual), ocassionally I cruise other webs (i.e. 02 an e28) cause my brother is working on an 02 and then I can teach him tricks (hahaha). I read in the 02 board of a guy having similar problems, someone namely (Paul @ Maximilian) said it was the brake hoses. Believe him not me (remember, I'm the poor sucker). Here's his reponse to the 02 guy:
"Check the hoses first (!)
I have never been a big fan of the stainless lines (I suspect some of them are rubber inside anyway!)
but replacing the rubber ones every few years has saved me TONS of money in calipers.
If the problem is simply "pulling" and not sticking hydraulics - check your alignment and tire pressure.
It took me 9 cars and 15 years to finally have a 2002 aligned properly (NO LIE! - you'd think it was brain surgery or something!)
Check for dents in the firewall behind the distributor, or fuse box. If the car's been hit - this is a tell tale sign.
Often times the camber, castor, and toe in will be correct, but the whole strut is pushed back causing uneven wheel base measurements.
Don't freak out! - It's fixable!
Front hoses: $14.00 each, front
$12.00 each rear

Good Luck!

Check the 02 board for if you want the whole story/trail. Sometimes the simple things are overlooked.
Hope that helps
