Ditto on the brake lines. I AM a fan of the Stainless lines. Cost less than original and WAY better. While you're at it check for any kinks in the metal lines.

I'm curious as to how the brakes were "tested".

BTW, alignment, tire, pressure, steering problems will generally exhibit themselves while you're driving. As in, drive on a long straight, let go of the wheel, and it pulls to the right. If it tracks straight, then it is probably NOT a steering component, though most of these cars require steering parts at this age.

If you let go of the wheel and it tracks straight, hit the brakes and it pulls to one side, that's brakes!

Also, when was the last time the brake fluid was changed? Most likely NEVER, though BMW suggests it be done every year.

Also, don't pay for the idler arm. They don't go bad unless you go for an offroad excursion. Just replace the bushing, about $25.
