Having put together some much smaller events, I know a lot of work went into this. One thing I learned, though, is that many E12 (and likely some E28) owners are not like E36 and newer owners...many of us don't have as much disposable income and get together to learn about our cars rather than show them off (with 20" rims and such...:(). I think many of us are a bit more practical...
Just to get perspective, this is how much I anticipate spending to get to Texas:
Hotel: $400 min (could be $700 if at Marriott)
Gas: $300
FF Fee: $50
Food: $200
Banquet: $30
Raffle: $10
That's almost $1000 and I haven't included the engine raffle and any souvenirs! I'm not a beer drinker, either...
If I can gently suggest for the next fest that E12 (and E28) participation might increase if the event were scaled back to 1-1.5 days with minimal registration fees.
The enthusiasm is great but as I have learned reality bites.
