I did some (around tail lights, side lights, and side door moldings) in my car and like the looks. Mine is also a fairly dark color -- chestnut. That treatment probably looks better on a dark car. I did not do the window frames, but I'm thinking about it.
Also cleaned up the clutter a lot by painting the black grilles and door handles body color and removing the drip rail trim.
As you can tell from the responses, everyone has his own taste.
