Well, you'd need the manifold, fuel rail, injectors, and lines. I don't what the impedance of the Motronic injectors is. You might be able to drive them with a 528i L-Jet ECU, but you might not. You'd also have to adapt the E12 throttle to the E28 manifold and then modify the throttle linkage to make it work.
All in all, I'd guess that E21 intake runners and a free flowing exhaust would do just as well if not better. Of course, a 3.5L engine would really work well too.
