You might have to play some games, but I think it should work. The heads are definitely the same, the big difference is the cam. You would have to use the x33 injectors as they are the right impedance, the 3.5 ones had a different value. You might need to play with the fuel pressure regulator, I'm not sure about flow rating on either. I haven't done it, but it appears that the throttle body is even in the same place, so the rest of the induction would fit right into place. Now after all that I don't know how much if any you would gain, but they did go to that same type of manifold on all their engines, M10, 20 and 30 starting with the 320i in '80, so maybe it is worth something.
