hi all. just bought my first car a coupla weeks ago. its a 1983 528i and b4 u all tel me to go to an e28 board, it IS an e12.a quik peek at the compliance plate tels us that this is in fact a SAfrican build.The car isnt without its faults although i paid only AU$600 (US$300) for it, in very going condition. i unfortunately do have some work to do to get it on the road. i am now the proud owner of Dunlop FM901 tyres for it (worth more than the car) now riding on 15" dish alloys. Someone in the past has removed the a/c compressor so im guessing that has seized. The gearshift is STUFFED, its better now i bent the little bracket straight but people other than me who have driven it struggled to get 2nd and had a 50/50 chance at 1st. Also i have found the other day that i need to do i rear mail seal.
Today on the way to a bbq, it died on me,after taking 3hrs to get started this morning. i treated it to a thourough engine bay/undertray high pressure clean last nite, and altho it drove home from the place fine, this morning i diagnosed EVERYTHING until i saw the fuel pump had no volts!! a quick fuse replacement and she was a goer! half way to the party though she died again, the fuse was fine and i COULD NOT get it going for the life of me.
Any suggestions? I didnt have any tools/multimeter so i couldnt check the pump yet, more detail to come
