If my quest to sink way too much money into the rebuilding of my E12, I have some to the most expensive part, with the exception of an engine rebuild. I need a driveshaft. New from BMW, they cost about $525. Rebuilt from Atlanta is $325. I have to ship them mine and they rebuild it. Anyone have any angle on a better deal? I will probably go with this. They are Driveline Services in Norcross, GA.

On a similar note...

Taking my driveshaft to local shops, everyone cautioned me about using a driveshaft with bad ujoints. Everyone, even the ones who couldn't sell me a driveshaft said bad ujoints will cause vibration, leading to first, a messed up diff and then transmission. I should be able to get 100 to 150k out of a rebuilt or new one. Advantage of a rebuilt is replacable, greasable ujoints. Buying the factory one will land me in the same place I am now and yes I plan on driving the car another 100K plus.

Just wanted to pass on safety info to you all. Don't wait until it's too late. A driveshaft that fails could also fly out and hurt someone. Check em please.
