The rubber coupling between the rear output shaft on the trans and the front of the driveline. Six holes for mounting, 3 bolts on the tailshaft through the Guibo/Jurid and 3 bolts on the front of the driveshaft.

I suspect the names are manufacturer's names, as the Jurid I have has the name Jurid molded into the side in small letters. The Jurid is a round ring about 7-8 inches in diameter and flat on the circumference and both faces, whereas the Guibo looks like a big bagel or round doughnut. Interchangability seems to be a bit of an issue since they are slightly different thickness' meaning different bolt lengths. I also suspect the Jurid is more hardy, as all talk of cracks seems to relate to Guibos. I know the Jurid is easier to take off and install because the Guibo comes with a compression ring on it when new, that is removed after it is bolted in place. The Guibo must be compressed (PITA) to get it off, unless it has disintegrated away. The Jurid mounts and comes off as is.

Then there is the mysterious Guibo shield, a round plate that bolts on with the Guibo on the rear side. No one has ever truly explained the purpose of this plate, as it only covers the rear side of the Guibo, not really shielding the Guibo from petroleum products or the elements. I may be one on the few people who have seen this plate in the "wild", and I have a picture to prove it. I have forensic evidence that the picture has not been tampered with. I also have a more suspicious video of the "supposed" Sasquatch, taken high in the Cascade Mountains, while picking Blueberries. It was on the far side of the blueberry patch I used to visit. The vid is grainy, but it looks like the Sasquatch was courting a large female Brown Bear. If you like, I can post pics (The Guibo shield, of course).

There seems to be some dispute as to whether the Guibo/Jurid's are on all automatic's, or all manual transmission. There does not seem to be a consistent answer on this, as they have appeared on both types of trans, and not appeared at all on many cars.

If I can fill you in on any more of the details, perhaps we can schedule a meeting, or a seminar for those interested.

I hope you find this information helpful and clarifying to your situation. Thank you for attending and listening.

Disclosure: I do not profess to be the final expert on the Guibo/Jurid Contoversy. There are many differing opinions. The point and comments I have made here are the opinions I hold. However, like Attorneys, Accountants, and Financial Analysts, I can be paid enough to hold many differing opinions, many of which I may not personally believe.
