Go back and revisit he socket. You have to use universal joints, wobble extensions and extensions. Also, it helps to take a large crowbar and push the engine whichever way it needs to go. It should move an inch or two each way. Use a jack and a block of wood on the front of the oilpan to lean it back too.
This is all I remember.
I'll be reinstalling mine soon. Hope you can write something up about this process.
