Which E-12 heads are prone to crack?

Gents,

Which E-12 heads are prone to crack? Were is the number located on the head? Where can I check to see if that number was manufactured after the problem? Are all "big 6" ie: 2.5-3.5 heads basicaaly the same and thus interchangeable.
