The biggest issue is injector compatibility. The 528 ecu will not drive the 533 nor the 535 (mustang)injectors. OK, why not use the 528 injectors and rail? The injector & rail attachement system is completely different. The 528's bolt individually, the 533/5 injectors are hard connected to the fuel rail which is bolted the manifold.
The next issue is that the throttles are a different bore and hole spacing. You could use a 535 throttle but you have to go with a throttle cable conversion.
The 533/5 has a differnt aux air/ idle strategy using a 5/8" diameter cylinder with a pulsing solenoid controlled by a small (533) computer. (Green cigarette pack size box) 535 idle operation is integral in ECU. There is not a hard idle loop with adjustment screw like the 528. I guess you could custom fab an idle circuit and adapt the 528 aux air valve as well.
The manifold is a better design for flowing air because the intake pipes are arranged for optimum acoustic wave reinforcement and the intake pipe volumes are much bigger than the 528 or 320 intake runners.
I am ramping up to do a full Motronic conversion sometime in the next year. The big advantage (in my mind) is the full computerization of the ignition system for much more precise engine performance. Another plus are the Mustang injectors (which are pumpkin orange color) $25 ea vs $75+ for the 528 injectors.
