Gang:

Job change and pending relocation require that I sell my '79 635CSi euro as quickly as possible. No reasonable offer refused and cash talks! It has a strong motor and a good dog-leg 5-speed tranny (both previously rebuilt).

I made a half-hearted attempt to sell this car last fall, at which time I wrote up the following for the BCG:

Group,

With the recent acquisition of a pristine '85 Cosmos Blue 6er and also a 325iX, I need to part with my 1979 euro-spec 635CSi, which has been my daily driver for 10 years now.

Details as follows:

- Polaris silver with sunroof & black leather interior.
- 205k miles on odometer (rebuilt euro motor).
- 5 speed dog-leg "sport" transmission with Autosolutions short-shift kit.
- Replacement driveshaft with greasable u-joints.
- 14" BMW (BBS) honeycomb wheels with good 225/60 rubber.
- Refurbished brake system 5k miles ago (Balo rotors, rebuilt calipers, new lines, new master cylinder, e-brake cable & shoes, Pagid pads).
- BMW (Boysen) euro-spec exhaust 5k miles ago (no cat).
- Newish radiator, coolant hoses, fuel hoses, belts & Laso water pump.
- NON-functional AC system in place (no idea what the problem is).

This car has been a very reliable daily driver. The engine was rebuilt at about 150k and the transmission was rebuilt at about 160k, when a new clutch was also installed. It pulls strong all the way to redline. It does not overheat. It burns no oil. The interior is pretty clean except maybe for a worn driver's seat and a few cracks on the dash.

The cam lobes on the #1 cylinder are worn (typical banjo-bolt syndrome). There is a minor oil leak at the rear of the head. The FR fender is pushed in several inches above the wheel arch and the rear bumper took a minor hit and got bent down an inch or so. The inner front fenders have rust. The paint is only OK, but it needs a little work in some areas.

I would not recommend this car for a full restoration due to the rust in the front fenders, but the mechanicals are sound and it has many good miles left in it. If you're used to a US 6er, the power of the high-output euro motor (218bhp) in a lightweight chassis will amaze you. The car is registered in California and has a BAR exemption sticker, but it is currently located in Boston.

Asking price is [see above] (includes a factory printed repair manual!!). I sincerely hope that a fellow BCG'er will purchase it.

Email me off-list with questions...
