I have run heads cut down 30 or 40 thou with no problems. It's hard to say without knowing just how much was taken off, but I think you will have more problems with pistons hitting valves than sluggish performance. Now if you are talking ignition timing, crank that sucker up, you will loose a little off the top end, but more advance gets you more torque and it feels stronger, to a point of course.
