This sucks that I don't know how much this hoser took off the head. He is a small one-man machine shop in a small town. I will look to see if he stamped it anywhere. I am about a full 1/2 tooth off, so maybe it is about 5 degrees retarded. I am not sure how much of a difference that will make, but I think I am going to go ahead and order the adjustable sprocket and set the valve timing straight up and go from there. i guess it can only help, even if it isn't the whole problem. The distributor is OE too, so I am going to replace it at the same time and see what happens. The old wallet is now recovered from the last go-around of throwing parts at it, so maybe these last few parts will cure it. I am not looking for a perfectly running engine, but it needs to run well enough to drive it and it has to please the california smog gods. At least the car isn't a daily driver (for now).
