You are correct. The early Euro 3.5L engines were 3453cc. You can check the math.
(((9.34/2)^2 * 3.14159) * 8.4 * 6)
All 3.5L engine Euro and otherwise have been 3430cc since '82.
The bore and stroke have next to nothing to do with the performance difference between the two engines. The later 3430cc Euro engine were also rated at 218hp. The real difference is the compression ratio and camshaft.
