: Got a good look under the car last week, I need a new fuel line asap, I hear that labor is at least 4-5 hours on this one. Can I do this myself? does anyonehave a diagram?
I've done this myself. The time isn't THAT bad but as long as you are there, go for ALL the lines from the fuel pump in the trunk and do incoming to filter and outgoing from filter. The hardest part is to get the lines from the fuel tank pump, down through the slot. Make SURE you are wearing glasses and OLD throw away clothes! Its the dirtiest I've EVER gotten working on a car. The top of the fuel tank is a VALLEY of collected debris and stuff I've never seen before. And I cleaned the He!! out of this thing before I ever started messing with it. Anyway you need a second pair of hands to help guide the hoses through the opening and something to pull the newones through the correct spot. They have to be in the right order so they connect correctly (flat enough to attatch to the pump correctly. It probably sounds worse than it is. I did mine with a jack stand laying on my back with my 16 year old on the top side feeding the hoses through to me under the car. Very valuable experience for him learning COMPLETELY new ways to use the mechanic speak he already knows.
Good luck. Let me know.
