I had this problem with my 320i, there is relief stamped into the floor boards so you can cut it out to drain water..funny how it rusts out the first...I remedied the situation by "sandwiching" the offending orifice with 2 perforated metal sheets (You should be able to find these at your local Pep Boys or UAP - I dunno cuz I live up in Canada). Anyways...I made sure the excess rust was trimmed away, used some fiberglass mesh drywall tape on top of each metal sheet to add rigidity, then I used long strand fiberglass resin over it. Sand it smooth, and use a decent undercoating compound - ideally it should be rubberized - and you will be watertight like a ducks butt..
