You will have very low compression if you combine e34 M30 head on an early M30. The combustion chambers and pistons are different between those 2 engines.
From what I remember any M30 from 75 to 88 you can combine block, head, intakes, exhaust, with any other block, head, intake, exhaust. The only exception is the 84mm short stroke euro only 3.5L found in the e12 M535i and M635csi (79-81), all that stuff is specific to that engine.
