But the E3's are great cars. My first bimmer was a 2500. They wallow a bit, so I would spend a little time with the suspension. Funky old cars, but a bit heavier than an e12. they were the big sedan and predecessor to the e23, not the e12. But, they are great rides. The steering wheel is about as big as the wheel on a conestoga wagon, so steering resistance is almost non-existant. I'd love to have one again, but it would be a cruiser. I'd go with the stock carbs, but L-jet is easier to come by and easier to set up. As far as a Frankenstein Bimmer... let your imagination run wild. They are built just as solid and safe as the cars we are now driving. They're just 30 years old, instead of 25.
