Here's a spur of the moment, subjective opinion from the airplane structure designer:
Our cars have three reinforced crash absorber mounts. If it was me, I'd remove the center rear bumper shock absorber, insert a tube that just clears the existing space, and weld a trailer hitch onto it. Let me give that some serious thought.
