Hello!
First of all I want to thank Icehaus Dave Crawford for extending the offer for Christine and I to head up 5er Fest 2003.
We both our very excited about this years event and will do our best to make it a success.
We all have only a few short months to get this all together - so everyone's help is needed.
Ryan Brennerman sent me a list of folks that have already volunteered for specific tasks and I will be contacting them shortly.
A little about Christine and I --
I am 42 and I work as the Creative Director of an interactive media company in Waterbury, CT.
I have had experience from past employment at an Ad / Promotions agency in setting up national events - I was
the Program Director for several beverage promotions in the early 90's. I feel this experience will lend itself to the
organization and success of 5er Fest 2003.
Presently, I own a "Euro-ized" 1985 535i and a 1975 2002. My first Bimmer was a 1975 1602 (Euro model)
that I got in 1986. Since then I have had three 2002's, two E21's -- a 320is and a 323 a 518i and of course the
Zinnobarrot 535. I consider myself a "shade tree mechanic". I am sure many of you have a deeper technical
knowledge of these cars...and I am sure that some of you have less -- so that puts me somewhere in the middle.
Not a bad place to be, eh?
My wife Christine thoroughly enjoys these cars and drives the 5er every chance she gets. She grew up with all
sorts of German cars around. Her dad was a bit of a can nut - mostly air cooled VW's. She is the Director of
Programming at a local museum and has a lot of experience organizing public events. She is an organizational
fiend! I know this -- I live with her!
Let me stress that the biggest key to a successful event is COMMUNICATIONS!
If everyone knows what is going on -- and who is doing what there should be little or no wasted / duplicated
effort and things should run smoothly.
I have put up a List Sever specifically for the 5er Fest.
This will be used as a communications tool. The Forum here is a great place as well...but it isn't 5er Fest specific
and you may find yourself weeding through messages to find out details that you need to know.
5er Fest 2003 Mailing List
Anyway Christine and I are delighted and proud to be your new 5er Fest 2003 Chairpersons - Our best wishes
to Ryan, the past Chairman. May his business continue to grow and thrive.
We all have a big task ahead of us...I trust that the "5er Family" will come through.
