W8DC is not a resistor spark plug, this spark plug is used with a nylon/graphite wound core spark plug wire set. WR8DC would be the copper core Bosch spark plug to use with solid core wires.
All combinations are possible, the idea behind the resistor is noise supression. If you don't have any interference in your radio you can get away with running non-resistor plugs and solid core wires. Would suggest using the Silver core Bosch Spark Plugs, does wonders for the idle and performance.
Stay away from all forms of Platinums, I learned at Bosch over in Germany and we were not even allowed to install them in any customer vehicle.
