Car won't start during/after rainstorm

I have a 1979 528i that will not start while it is raining or if it has rained recently. It usually will not start first thing in the morning either. After things dry up, it starts right away.

One of the things that is confusing me is that during the times that it won't start, it also is not generating a spark to the distributor. Otherwise everything seems to work fine.

Any ideas as to what I should do?
