I once had this problem, but not on my BMW.I think it may be 'living in the tropics' thing.
Finally found that the lead from the coil to dissy
was corroded on the dissy end as was the socket in the cap itself. It was ONLY a problem in wet weather, ie, high humidity.After cleaning ,no more trouble.
