The close ratio dog-leg tranny was used in the auto bahn cruisers. It was
used on the euro cars with the 3.07 rear ends. It was used more like a granny
gear in a truck to get the car moving. Or to get the car moving from the pit
lane. Don't know if you would really gain anything in 0-60 times since the
shift and jump to 2 nd might not gain you anything. Might also be rather
annoying driving in town, but then again with a normal rearend you might just
start out in 2 nd most of the time. If you are looking for faster off the
line times look into changing the rear end and using a 5 speed overdrive to
keep the revs down on the highway.
