I have a '80 and the car has the ribbed guibo with the 5 speed. However I just changed the guibo last year and my parts
store (which has been very good for all sorts of other parts) said that I could use either one. The parts store
had both of them and at least on the counter they seemed to be the same thickness so I went with the ribbed one since that was on the car
and lasted ~7 years (I changed the guibo when I first bought the car). So what does this mean... It may well be true that both will work.
