It does sound like the cold start injector is not working. It is located on the left side of the intake plenum. It has a fuel hose and a wire running to it. Remove it, stick in a jar and try to start the car and see if it sprays a nice wide fan of fuel.
I think the 530i has cold start relay, but I have a 528i which does not, so I don't know where it is.
