style. I am just saying that these motors suck more oil down the valve guides than most other engines, and using compression to brake or slow down exacerbates the situation. Keeping the revs up is not necessarily bad, as a means of keeping the car Accelerating. It was decelerating I make a point of. As far as relating to driving other cars... most other cars with a better valve guide/seal situation will not use the oil an M30 does driven the same way. It just happens to be a unique characteristic of the M30 motors up to the mid 80's. You are using a bit more oil, but the up side is that the valve stems are certainly well lubricated....... another reason many of these engines never have to be unbuttoned until 250-300 thousand miles.
