I thought it was in the FAQ but I haven't read it in a while. The nut replaced the big nut but also has the ears to drive your distributor. Those ears are on your cam on the 530i (not present on motronic cam), Sometimes when the cars get hit in the front the timing case and cam ears get damaged; this nut is repair part for this problem.
Does anyone have the part#?
Is the manifold an 86 535 manifold or 76 530 manifold?
If you use the 535 maifold you'll need the cat off that car as well. 530i maifolds are thermal reactors which you don't want. If you already have 3 into 1 manifolds on the car and they don't look like big coffee cans, they may already be Bavaria (or 3.0Si) manfolds. I think E9's used them as well.
