I'd think early E28 533i/535i or standard e12 528i clutch would basically be the same unit, but you should check the part numbers to be sure.

I opted for the sachs "sport" clutch when I installed a new clutch in my 528i w/M535i engine. I've heard this is really the e28 M5 clutch so maybe you could buy it from BMW slightly cheaper than some of the aftermarket places. Cost was about $550 for all three parts (pressure plate,friction disc and throwout bearing). It should take 300 hp no problem.

Also do the pilot bearing in the back of the crank too as it's a PITA to have to tear it all apart in a year or two if it goes bad.
