My first E12 with an auto cut out at 5K. It was like the fuel cut off. I could never rev it past the 5k line or the engine would cut back to idle. With the 5 speed that I have now, I don't have that problem any more. I never could figure out what it was. The engine from the older car is now in this one. Different ECU though.
