I would try basics - make sure timing and dwell are correct and there are no large vacuum leaks (check intake bellows - underside).
The next time it's slow starting, try unpluging cold start valve; if it catches quicker, the car is flooding and the thermal time switch (see sensor FAQ) is probably staying on too long or coming on too warm.
