I just looked at an 88 535is here in Sacramento, CA. The seller is in Africa and his father is helping sell the car. It is silver with black leather interior, 16 inch rims and new tires. The paint and leather interior are in good shape, no cracks, tears, etc in the leather. AC works great, everything works. 198k miles, 5 speed. Engine stumbled some when first driving but smoothed out nicely once driven for a while. It has been sitting recently. Was smogged in March. New muffler/exhaust from cat back.
Now for the problem, has salvage title. Appears to have been hit on drivers side rear or at least that is where I can see some repair work. If it weren't for the sanding marks in the bondo you couldn't tell it had been repaired. I looked under the car can could see any damage.
Asking price is $2,500. I offerred $1,800 will see what son says when he calls in a couple of days.
Is $2,500 high for a salvage title???? Is $1,800 reasonable?
Thanks for your help, I know it's not and E12 but you guys are so knowlegable someone will be able to help. I forgot to take my digital camera or I would post some pics.
