I believe the problem is most BMW's that had the 4HP22 had electronic speedos...

: I have a 79 528I with the old 3HP22 trans that is tired. I use this car as a commuter. I do not like the gear selection/ratios on the 3HP22 and was wondering if and what would I need to install a 4HP22.
