Don't get too hung up mixture until you verify this:
Make sure the throttle plate assy is clean. Use intake system cleaner (a little different than carb cleaner - maybe slight lubricating properties?) Then Adjust the idle stop screw to spec. Then make sure the idle switch works. Then start the car let it warm up and adjust the idle mixture screw. If you pump the brakes and it idle more, unscrew it until exactly the point where that no longer happens. Then adjust idle speed.
Oh yeah, one other thing, make sure the distributor isn't loose (I know, but it doesn't hurt to ask).
