One other possible cause. Inside the motor there are sliding contacts. The grease gets gummy and they make crappy contact. I will post picture later if you want. Fixed mine by cleaning and re-greasing. Also cleaned commutators of motor.

: My wipers work on intermittant and slow but refuse to budge on "fast". If they are running and you move lever up to "fast" the wipers will run only until the blade comes back to the bottow of the windshield and then it stops. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to correct. Our recent heavy rains made driving impossible. TIA for your help.
