Mine were allen although the books show regular hex heads. If you can get the harder 10.9 grade bolts I would. Bently shows the torque higher on the grade 10.9 BTW. 22-26 vs 16-18 for 8.8 grade bolts.
Pep Boys sells 10.9 although I don't like them for body use (ok to use here) cuz they are not plated and rust fast.
And I used loctite blue to stave off paranoia

: I thought the factory ones were made out of solder )-:
: Boogered really easy. Any place that has grade 8.8 or 10.9 bolts. I used hex head to replace the allen head cause that's all I can find. If you want I can check the size. I have a few of the old ones lying around.
: I think 8mm X 20.

: : Okay, it's just about time to tear the clutch apart and put in the new one. Peter Florance advised that I buy some new alanhead bolts that go from the flywheel to the pressure plate. Is this a dealer-only item? I asked about them at allbmwparts.com when I ordered my clutch kit and they didn't know what to tell me. Anyone know?
